Subaru has released two new videos which showcase its record setting run on the Nürburgring Nordschleife earlier this year.
The first clip shows Richie Stanaway driving the WRX STI Type RA NBR Special and completing the 12.8 mile (20.6 km) long course in 6:57.5. This set a new lap record for a four-door sedan and the time was recorded using Nürburgring equipment and was verified by track officials.
Subaru has previously released footage of the event but the latest clip shows the full lap from the perspective of Stanaway. As you can see, the WRX STI Type RA NBR Special tears up the track and hits speeds in excess of 280 km/h (173 mph).
The second video isn't as exciting as it's a behind the scenes look at the record breaking attempt. It features interviews with Stanaway as well as a little bit of history about the Nürburgring.
Subaru is excited about the record but it's important to note the WRX STI Type RA NBR Special is a purpose built race car made by Prodrive. It features a specially-designed aerodynamics package and a stripped out interior with a roll cage. The model also has a modified 2.0-liter engine that produces more than 600 hp (447 kW).
