POV Drive Shows Off The 911 GT3's Potency

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is now the fastest 911 to ever lap the Nurburgring but if we had the choice, we’d still pick the 2018 GT3, preferably with a six-speed manual.

Whereas the GT2 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter six-cylinder, the GT3’s 4.0-liter six remains free of forced induction and therefore has one of the finest sounding engines on the market. Need proof? Watch the video below.

The POV clip perfectly illustrates just how potent the new GT3 is on the street, even if it ‘only’ has 500 hp compared to the GT2 RS’s near 700 hp.

Arguably the most remarkable thing about the GT3’s engine is that it revs to an absurd 9,000 rpm and is based around the engines used in both the 911 GT3 R and 911 RSR race cars. The results are a powertrain which climbs through the rev range at a dizzying rate and when paired with the dual-clutch transmission, offers shifts that are lightning fast.

Driver’s cars don’t come much better.
