Somehow The New Acura NSX Can Pull Some Delicious Donuts

Last time we checked, the new Acura NSX was propelled by an insanely complex hybrid powertrain that sent its power to all four wheels, so donuts shouldn’t be on the menu, right?

So how on earth did racing driver Katherine Legge pull these awesome, smoky donuts with an NSX? Did the electric motors on the front axle decide to take a sabbatical or something?

The answer might be resting on an older report on Acura’s flagship, which talked about a hidden maintenance mode that disables the ABS and all three electric motors, turning the NSX from a “cut-price Porsche 918” to a twin-turbo mid-engined Acura that likes drifting a lot.

Katherine Legge, who races an Acura NSX GT3 in her professional life, felt left out when her teammate Andy Lally got to do the celebratory donuts after their win at the Detroit Grand Prix.

Now though, it’s her turn to fill the sky with some fine white smoke created by one of the most technologically advanced supercars on the market right now. Electric motors or not, this thing sure knows how to evaporate its tires.
