The Nissan Rogue is on track to finish 2017 as America’s top-selling SUV/crossover, potentially snatching the title away from the Honda CR-V that has led the segment for five years.
In the first six months of the year, Nissan has sold a total of 195,689 units of the Rogue, an 8,433 edge over the Honda CR-V and also enough to put the Rogue ahead of other rivals including the Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Equinox and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
In June, Nissan claims to have sold 34,349 Rogue vehicles in the U.S., a 17 per cent increase over June 2016 and comfortably more than the CR-V. Such a figure also represents the third month the Rogue has topped SUV and crossover sales in 2017.
A key reason why the Nissan Rogue enjoyed such a fruitful June is the fact that it is no longer doing battle with the CR-V alone. Instead, the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport, America’s version of the Qashqai, joined it on the market six weeks ago and Nissan has clumped its sales figures together with those of the standard Rogue, rather than breaking down sales of the Rogue and Rogue Sport individually.
