Nissan’s second-generation Leaf has been spotted with minimal camouflage, giving us a first taste of what to expect from the world’s second best-selling EV.
Covered by a thin film that doesn’t really cover that much, the new Nissan Leaf looks clearly inspired by the 2015 IDS Concept.
Although the overall shape isn’t as dramatic as that of the concept, the new Nissan Leaf features a much more acceptable design that even gets a fake front grille in a bid to make it more appealing to customers.
Nissan is reportedly planning to offer the new 2018 Leaf with at least two different battery packs: an entry-level 40kWh and a 60kWh lithium-ion, with the latter providing a range up to 340 miles (547km) on a single charge.
Nissan will also make their Tesla Model 3 and Chevrolet Bolt rival compatible with the fast 150kW charging stations, reducing the time needed for a full recharge. Nissan has also confirmed with a teaser that the new Leaf will feature the company’s latest ProPilot semi-autonomous systems that are offered in the Qashqai and X-Trail models among others.
Nissan is planning to reveal the all-new Leaf at Tokyo on September 6, just ahead of the car’s public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
