Doug DeMuro Finds The Porsche 911R Amazing - And Way Overpriced

Porsche put the whole world on notice last year when they came out with the ultra-lightweight 911R, a car that weighs just 1,370 kg (3,020 lbs), less than any other 911 on sale.

Factor in the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, its 500 PS (493 HP) and the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds, and you've got yourself a seriously hardcore car, one that just keeps going up in value.

While there's no large rear wing for extra downforce, you still get a sporty front apron, all-wheel steering and, more importantly, a short-shift six-speed manual gearbox.

According to Doug DeMuro, all these factors make the Porsche 911R an amazing car to drive. He mentions that it offers an "intuitive driving experience", while also stating that the steering is very precise, which we already knew from all the other reviews that came out.

Yet, as great as the 911R is, DeMuro feels that it isn't worth half a million dollars - not when so many units have already been made, and not when it shares so many components as well as styling cues with a regular 911 Carrera.
