Ferrari Crossover Reportedly Coming In 2021, Could Be A Hybrid

Sergio Marchionne has repeatedly said Ferrari will never build a crossover but those plans may have changed if Car Magazine is correct.

According to the publication, the automaker is actively working on a crossover and it is reportedly codenamed the F16X.

Designed to compete with the Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini Urus, the crossover will resemble a "high-riding coupe" infused with Ferrari styling cues. The model is also rumored to have suicide rear doors and no traditional B-pillar.

The crossover is reportedly being developed alongside the GTC4 successor which is rumored to be launched in 2020. The crossover is slated to arrive one year later and ride on a lightweight aluminum platform.

Performance specifications remain a bit of a mystery but the report suggests the model will be offered with a V8 engine or a hybrid powertrain. All-wheel drive will come standard and the system will likely carryover from the GTC4 successor.

We're taking the report with a grain of salt but insiders said the crossover will cost more than €300,000 ($342,135) and help Ferrari double its annual sales to round 16,000 units.
