Red Bull Says It Won't Release Verstappen From Contract For Even $115 Million

Red Bull Racing’s Dr Helmut Marko won’t release Max Verstappen from his contract even if he’s offered 100 million euros ($115 million), he claims.

This season, the flying Dutchman has been hampered by reliability issues with his Red Bull and is reportedly eager to move into a championship-winning car as soon as possible. Apparently, Ferrari thinks this could be the opportunity to poach the 19-year-old.

However, Marko said that Verstappen has a firm contract for 2018 and 2019 with no release clause based on performance.

Responding, Verstappen said “100 million? Cool, I’m more expensive than a footballer! It is always very positive when someone values you like that.”

Quizzed about talks between Ferrari, Verstappen responded “I am not talking about what’s happening. I have a contract with Red Bull, and we’ll see.”

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner backed up Marko’s commitment to Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, saying the company would not give them up for any price, This Is F1 reports.
