Hyundai's VW Polo-rival, the i20, is on its way to receiving a facelift which should cover everything from the front fascia to the rear end, as well as slight interior upgrades.
While the finished model might wear Hyundai's new hexagonal grille, this particular prototype doesn't seem to. Other front features we can expect are updated headlights with bolder LED DRLs, as well as a new bumper design with round fog lamps.
The rear should also feature new LED taillights with updated graphics, which look very Mercedes-like with long sweeping patterns, unlike before when you had three distinctive patterns.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that the facelifted i20 will come with tailgate-mounted license plate mounts, instead of having them on the bumper, like on the current model. This probably gave Hyundai engineers more freedom when working on the rear bumper design.
While there probably won't be any massive changes to the interior, you can expect some new trim materials, and perhaps even new dials and an updated infotainment system.
No word as of yet on anything involving the powertrains, but even those might get updated in order to offer customers better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
As for a launch date, even though we haven't heard anything, it's unavoidable that the updated Hyundai i20 will sooner rather than later need to compete against massively improved rivals such as the all-new Ford Fiesta or the all-new VW Polo, not to mention the rest of the supermini pack.
