See What Happens When Aston Martin Makes A Soapbox Racer

Great things can happen when Aston Martin and Red Bull come together. Just take a look at the Valkyrie project, or this latest undertaking by Aston Martin Racing.

The team will be on hand today to take part in the Red Bull Soapbox Race at Alexandra Place in London with the miniature Vantage racer you see here.

A scaled-down, gravity-powered version of the V8 Vantage GTE that won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, the littlest Aston Martin racer is quite the opposite of the early vehicles the company made over a century ago for hill-climb racing.

It'll be driven by the automaker's senior prototype engineer Alex Summers, but the Le Mans-winning drivers Darren Turner and Jonny Adam will be there to help him out before heading to the next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, set to take place next weekend at the Nürburgring.

Despite the Le Mans win, which stands on its own, Aston currently sits third out of four in the standings behind Ford and Ferrari, each of which has also won a race in the championship this year but has also scored additional podium finishes. We're not even halfway through the season, though, with six more rounds to go on the nine-race calendar. This weekend, though, it's all about the soapbox challenge, where all eyes will be on the team from Gaydon with the little Vantage that you can check out in the image gallery below.
