Chrysler Denies Reports Of A Hellcat-Powered 300

Shortly after rumors surfaced that Chrysler was working on a Hellcat-powered 300 variant, a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles spokesman has ruled out the possibility of such a model.

Motor Authority reports that the spokesman said there are “no plans” to fit the 707 hp, supercharged V8 Hellcat engine into the Chrysler 300.

It was initially thought that a Hellcat-powered Chrysler 300 could be introduced in late 2018 and would be the perfect way to send off the current-generation model after a decision was made within FCA to scrap the planned next-gen 300 with Alfa Romeo Giulia underpinnings.

On the face of it, building a Chrysler 300 Hellcat wouldn’t be too difficult considering the sedan has previously been available with a big V8 in SRT guise. However, in the years since that model was ditched, Chrysler has focused more on luxury in the 300 family, leaving performance to the likes of Dodge and Jeep.

If what the spokesman is saying is true, the Charger, Challenger and Jeep Grand Cherokee may remain the only Hellcat-powered models. However, we’re still holding out hope for a Chrysler Pacifica SRT Hellcat
