Hyundai and Kia are among the car manufacturers that will lose money this week, due to Hurricane Irma, as they have to temporarily shut down their plants in the United States.
Quoting a statement released on Monday, Reuters reports that Hyundai will suspend operations of its Alabama facility, for two days, from Monday until Wednesday, while Kia will do the same thing at their Georgia factory, for one day, between Monday and Tuesday.
As a result of this action, which comes after Hyundai's sales in the States have fallen more than the market average, the two brands are estimated to lose the production of some 3,000 vehicles, combined, according to the Yonhap news agency, a number that the company's representatives declined to comment upon.
While Hyundai and Kia are forced to shut down their operations in the US, Tesla Motors is coming to aid Florida residents to escape the rage of Hurricane Irma by increasing the range of the Model S and Model X 60 and 60D vehicles, which are equipped with the 75kWh battery packs.
Hurricane Irma left millions of Florida residents without power, flooded city streets, and did a lot of damage to homes and businesses, as it carved its way through heavily populated areas.
