New Opel Insignia GSi Takes To The 'Ring In First Ad

The GSi is back in Opel's lineup, although not with as much power as some of us were expecting, but rather a "decent" 260PS (252hp) and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque.

However, despite putting down fewer horses than the old OPC, the new Insignia GSi is still capable of lapping the Nurburgring faster than the former flagship.

Also, it feels "at home" on the legendary track, in Opel's own words, who released the first official video of the range-topping model a few days after it celebrated its premiere in Frankfurt.

Opel is also offering the Insignia GSi as a Sports Tourer, besides the Grand Sport, which comes with a second engine option: a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel that makes 210PS (207hp) and 480Nm (354lb-ft) of torque. In this form, the estate version of the family car takes 7.9sec to reach 100km/h (62mph), before topping out at 231km/h (144mph).

Both versions of the Insignia GSi are expected to go on sale in the coming months, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
