New Ford Fiesta Arrives In Europe With A Few Tricks Up Its Sleeve

Ford is finally launching the new Fiesta supermini in Europe, with the company claiming that the new generation will be the most technologically advanced model in its segment.

Customers will be given the choice between different flavors of the new Fiesta, including the Titanium, the ST-Line, the premium Vignale, the value-for-money Style and the Active crossover version.

The latter, along with the new Fiesta ST, will hit the European market next year, while Ford says that customers should expect more Active crossover models in years to come.

"We now have a Fiesta option for every driver, with advanced technologies and features that small-car customers could only have dreamed of just a few years ago," said Steven Armstrong, Ford group vice president and president, Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Ford has also upped the quality of its new compact model, with the interior not only being more tightly screwed together using much better materials than the ones found in the outgoing model but also offering more personalisation options than ever.

The new Ford Fiesta features a wide range of driver assistance systems as well, with the company adding an enhanced version of the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Park-Out Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Cruise Control among others.

As for the ever-important infotainment, the new Fiesta is using the latest SYNC3 system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice-command and a 6.5-inch touchscreen display with “class-leading resolution and twice as bright as competitors”.

The engine range includes the turbocharged 1.0-litre EcoBoost in 100, 125 and 140PS versions, along with a new six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed auto for the 100PS version. The 1.5-litre TDCi is now offered with 10PS more in its base version at 85PS, with Ford adding a 120PS version as well. Entry-level Fiestas will be powered by a three-cylinder 1.1-litre petrol with either 70 or 85PS.

The new Ford Fiesta is expected to arrive in the UK next month, with pricing starting from £12,715 for the Style model.
