Is The Diesel-Powered Audi SQ7 A Match For The Tesla Model X 100D?

While these two crossovers couldn't be more different in terms of powertrains, their specs are actually quite comparable, which makes this a very interesting test.

Audi claim that their SQ7 will fly past the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark in 4.8 seconds, with a little help from its 435 PS 4.0-liter V8 diesel, which also produces a massive 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque.

The full-electric Model X 100D (not the P100D flagship, mind you), is putting down a comparable 423 PS, while its 660 Nm (486 lb-ft) of torque are constantly available in the blink of an eye.

With all that in mind, Carwow's Mat Watson set out to prove which of the two is faster in a straight line, both from a rolling start as well as from a standstill, followed by a brake test that pretty much sealed the deal for the winner of this comparison test.

So what do you reckon? Is it the Tesla Model X 100D that came out on top or the fossil fuel-dependent Audi SUV? You'll be pleased to know that all "challenges" were quite close, which is something that doesn't usually happen when Teslas get involved in comparison tests.
