Aston Martin Chief Andy Palmer Talks About The V8-Powered DB11

After celebrating the dynamic debut of the V12 DB11 last year at Goodwood, Aston Martin chose this year's event to present the new V8-powered version of the car to the public.

And since this is an important step towards the future, as the British brand plans to launch seven new vehicles over the next seven years, CEO Andy Palmer was present on Lord March's domain and willing to talk about the AMG-powered DB11.

Despite being made by Mercedes' performance brand, the engine was tweaked by Aston Martin before being dropped into the car, and many work hours have been put into its sound, which, according to the automaker's boss, is the signature of a vehicle born in Gaydon.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 lump delivers 510PS (503hp) and 695Nm (513lb-ft) of torque. By comparison, the AMG GT S has 510PS (503hp) as well, but less torque - 650Nm (479lb-ft), to be more precise, while the V12-powered DB11 makes 608PS (600hp) and 700Nm (516lb-ft).

With this much power, the Aston Martin DB11 V8 needs just 4.0 seconds from naught to 100km/h (62mph), and will keep going up to 301km/h (187mph).
