Earlier this week, Volkswagen released a video previewing the new T-Roc. Now it's provided another hint in the form of design sketch to give us an even better look.
Following on the concept from over three years ago, the T-Roc is slated to emerge as a sporty compact crossover – smaller even than the Tiguan that's grown in size with the latest iteration.
That could put it in direct competition with models like the Nissan Juke and the closely-related Seat Arona with a particularly rakish roofline and an altogether sportier demeanor than its stablemates.
The rendering is signed by one Marco Giumentaro, a senior exterior designer at Volkswagen who we wouldn't be surprised to see promoted after his boss Oliver Stefani was named lead designer at Skoda.
The T-Roc is expected to borrow its underpinnings from the VW Polo and feature an array of three- and four-cylinder engines displacing between one and two liters and burning either gasoline or diesel. Expect both manual and dual-clutch transmissions to be offered, along with front- or all-wheel drive configurations.
The German automaker will lift the veil on August 23, but will likely give us more teasers to keep us on our toes until then – so watch this space.
