Bentley Continental GT3 Wins Its First Major Championship

It's been four years since Bentley rolled out the Continental GT3 and put itself back on the racing grid. And it's finally paid off.

The 2017 British GT Championship wrapped up this past weekend at Donington Park, where the Team Parker Racing duo of Rick Parfitt, Jr. and Seb Morris took the title in – you guessed it – a Bentley Continental GT3.

It wasn't the first win for the Bentley racer. In fact the Conti didn't win this weekend's decider, which was taken in a spectacular 1-2 finish by the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 fielded by TF Sport. The Bentley has won some 30 races in series around the world, but this was its first major championship.

What's more is that it may not be the last – not even before the season's over. The factory Bentley Team M-Sport is currently leading the standings in the Blancpain Endurance Cup (with only one round left to go at Catalunya).

Of course this all pales in comparison to Bentley's past racing success, which has seen it win the 24 Hours of Le Mans an impressive six times: five between 1924 and 1930, and another in 2003 with the Speed 8. But it must feel nice for the crew from Crewe to finally have their efforts vindicated with a championship trophy.
