VW Trying To Win Back Your Affection With New Six Year / 72,000 Mile Warranty

Most 2018MY VW models in the U.S. will now feature the automaker's new People First Warranty, with a six-year or 72,000-mile, fully transferable bumper-to-bumper coverage.

The reason why you might want to take this into consideration is pretty simple. VW rivals such as Honda, Toyota or Ford only offer a three-year/36,000 mile basic warranty in the U.S., plus a five-year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty on their cars and SUVs.

The German automaker also wants to point out that Hyundai and Kia's five-year/60,000 mile warranty comes with a higher time and mileage limit on their powertrain warranties, which are non-transferable.

"Volkswagen has always been 'the people's car' and with the People First Warranty, we're putting our customers first," said Hinrich J. Woebcken, president and CEO of VW USA. "By bringing the right cars, at the right time and making the offer very competitive, we believe we're in the position to grow in the US market."

First available on the all-new 2018 Atlas and Tiguan, the People First Warranty now covers the following 2018 models: Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI, Golf R, Golf Sport Wagon, Jetta and Passat.
