Despite being around for some two years now, the Tesla Model X has just been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
And with the final results to be published shortly, the manufacturer remains confident that their electric SUV will nab a 5-star safety rating, going as far as expecting the vehicle to achieve a probability of injury of around 6.5 percent, way better than the 10 percent required for a car to get 5 stars.
Before the feds publish the outcome of the crash-test session, they have released three videos that depict the Model X being subjected to the frontal crash test, into a fixed barrier at 35mph (56km/h), to the side crash test, into a moving barrier at 38.5mph (62km/h), and to a side pole impact, at 20mph (32km/h).
We are by no means car safety experts, but the Model X appears to have done more than just good in each session, which is why the description of each film also mentions that it's expected to nab a full 5-star rating.
