Hear Holden's Twin-Turbo Supercar At Full Pace

Holden has just given the world its first taste of what the twin-turbocharged V6 of its next-generation Supercar racer will sound like.

Set to be used in 2019 inside the latest-generation Holden Commodore, the engine has been slotted into the brand’s wild Sandman Supercar and was tested by Craig Lowndes at Queensland’s Norwell Motorplex.

Reportedly producing 635 hp, the engine will replace the existing naturally-aspirated V8 supercar and while it remains in its early development stage, it sounds pretty impressive. As you’d expect, it doesn’t have the growl or roar of the V8 but compared to the vacuum cleaners used in Formula One, it’s a forced induction revelation.

Holden will enter the new Commodore in the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship but for the first year, retain the existing V8, meaning there’s still 18 months of development to be done on the TT V6. If it sounds as good as this in 2019, we’ll be as pleased as punch.
