This Is A Concept VW Needs To Make Happen

Volkswagen’s I.D. Crozz Concept is edging closer to production and will form an integral part of the brand’s future EV family. Could it eventually be joined by something as radical as this? We hope so.

This piece of art is the work of designer Jisoo Kim and has been dubbed the Volkswagen Aero-B. It takes some design inspiration from the brand’s I.D. concepts but pushes things into the 2030’s with far more radical styling and a shape that’s all about aerodynamic efficiency and interior space.

Given that the concept would be all-electric, it makes do without a traditional front grille and instead just adopts brake cooling ducts on the front end alongside a glowing VW logo and LED headlights. Thanks to the compact nature of electric motors, the windscreen has been pushed in line with the front axle.

When paired with a huge wheelbase, a spacious cabin is the result. As you’d expect for a car from the mid 2030’s, there’s no traditional controls and there isn’t even front-facing driver and passenger seats. Instead, these seats face backwards and look towards the front-facing rear seats, effectively making the Aero-B a lounge on wheels.

It’s always difficult to predict what an industry like the automobile sector will look like in 20-odd years but thanks to the rise of autonomy and electric propulsion, vehicles like this could eventually become a reality.
