The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off tomorrow and Jaguar has announced plans to use the event to showcase a mysterious XJ.
Little is known about the model but the company says the car will be a new derivative of the luxury sedan and it will complete its final testing on the famous hill climb. The mysterious model will be decked out in special camouflage and Jaguar says we can expect an official unveiling later this summer.
There's no word on what the company has up its sleeve but the current-generation XJ was introduced in 2009 and is quickly approaching the end of its lifecycle. It would be natural to speculate the mysterious model is a new high-performance variant or an ultra-luxury derivative but we'll just have to wait to find out.
Besides showing the XJ, Jaguar will display the XF Sportbrake, the I-Pace concept, and the I-Type Formula E race car.
Of course, the real star of the show will be the new Jaguar XE SV Project 8 which features a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 600 PS (441 kW). The monstrous engine is connected to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 200 mph (321 km/h).
