Soccer Moms Rejoice, 3-Row Lexus RX Reportedly Coming In October

Lexus dealers and executives have been clamoring for a three-row crossover and it appears they're finally going to get what they desire in October.

Japan's Mag-X is reporting the company will use the Tokyo Motor Show to unveil a Lexus RX with a third-row seat.

The family-friendly model will reportedly have the same wheelbase as the five-passenger variant but it is slated to have an extend rear end which provides enough room for two additional passengers.

Unfortunately, the report suggests riding in the third-row won't be pleasant as both leg and knee room will be limited. An image published by the magazine also implies third-row passengers won't be able to see much expect the crossover's heavily stylized D-pillars.

Engine options are expected to carryover so the RX 350L should be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 295 hp (220 kW) and 268 lb-ft (363 Nm) of torque. Likewise, the RX 450hL should have a familiar hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 308 hp (230 kW).

The model is expected to be launched in Japan in January but there's no word on when it will arrive in the United States.
