Honda Civic Type R Rear-Ended On The Way Home From The Dealership

Honda Civic Type R fans are facing huge dealer markups and a limited supply of the highly-anticipated model but one owner just realized every car buyer's worst nightmare.

According to a Facebook post by Greg Ellingson, he had just picked up his new Civic Type R and was driving home in stop and go traffic on the highway.

Unfortunately, the person driving behind Ellingson wasn't paying attention and slammed into the back of his new car. The impact was reportedly forceful enough that it pushed the Civic into the car in front of it despite a gap of "at least a full car length."

Thankfully, Ellingson says he came out of the crash "without even a scratch." The car wasn't as lucky as the photos show the impact crushed the rear bumper, smashed the hood, and destroyed the grille.

The accident would be devastating to most people but Ellingson seems to be taking it in stride as he thanked the towing company and police officer who responded to the accident. He also noted the car was covered by specialized insurance so he doesn't think there will be any issues submitting a claim.

Hopefully everything works out as the Civic Type R starts at $33,900 and comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 306 hp (228 kW) and 295 lb-ft (399 Nm) of torque.
