New Kia Stonic Spells The Death Of Poor-Selling Venga

Kia has no plans of keeping the Venga in production much longer now that the new Stonic is finally here.

It's unclear when the small MPV will be discontinued from the lineup, but the action has been confirmed by the brand's European arm chief, Michael Cole, who spoke to AutoExpress at the presentation of the sub-compact SUV.

Cole said that a new generation of the Venga would be 'difficult to justify', and the sales numbers speak for themselves.

Last year, only 26,000 units were shipped to the Old Continent, accounting for 6 percent of the company's total sales in this market, while the Stonic slots into a segment that accounts for 1.1 million deliveries in Europe alone and could grow to more than 2 million by the turn of the decade, according to Kia.

In the meantime, new images continue to surface with the Kia Stonic, which will go on sale later this year and combat the likes of the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008 in the segment.
