Someone Bid $200,000 For The First U.S. Honda Civic Type-R

Honda USA is currently auctioning the first U.S.-spec Civic Type-R for charity, with the highest bid at the moment being a scarcely believable $200,000.

With six days left at the time of writing, the Honda Civic Type-R VIN number SHHFK8G75HU200101 has already attracted some serious money, with “happycappyauto” submitting a bid of $200k, upping the previous bid by $144,000.

Bring A Trailer has already confirmed that the bid is legit. That also leaves us wonder how much higher it could get with so many days left until the hammer drops.

All proceeds of the auction will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. As for the car itself, the first Honda Civic Type-R in America is finished in Aegean Blue Metallic and features a set of 20-inch alloys wrapped with sticky Continental ContiSportContact 6 summer tires.

Its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine makes 306hp and 295lb-ft of torque and is mated exclusively to a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox which the chassis benefits from a fully independent suspension and adaptive dampers.

The new Honda Civic Type-R also holds the title of the fastest front-wheel drive production vehicle at the Nurburgring, after setting a lap time of 7 minutes 43.8 seconds.
