What's The Deal? Now Seinfeld's Selling His Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Jerry Seinfeld is known for two things. Comedy, of course, but in these circles, he's known as an avid Porsche collector as well.

Though he made hundreds of millions from his namesake hit TV show, even an entertainer as successful as Seinfeld occasionally has to part with cars from time to time. So he sold 16 of his Porsches last year, and a Lotus just last month. And now he's selling another.

Consigned to Russo and Steele for its Monterey auction this summer is Jerry's 2006 Porsche 911 GT3 RS – one of only 917 examples sold in the United States and a model that will likely be remembered as one of the greatest naturally aspirated Porsches of all time.

The 997.1 GT3 RS packed a 3.6-liter atmospheric flat-six rated at 415 horsepower. It was the first GT3 or RS model with an electronically adjustable suspension (PASM in Porsche-speak), but no flappy paddles... just an old-school six-speed manual transmission.

No word on how much the auctioneer expects it to sell for, but the celebrity provenance ought to add to its cachet. The event is slated to take place adjacent to Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey this coming August 17-19.
