First Production Tesla Model 3 Rolls Out Of Fremont Factory

The very first production-spec Tesla Model 3 has rolled out of the company's Fremont factory, Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter.

Musk said that the first unit is going through its final checks and was originally set to be delivered to Tesla board member Ire Ehrenpreis. However, Ehrenpreis gave Elon Musk the rights to the very first car as a 46th birthday present for the billionaire entrepreneur. Ehrenpreis will now get the second Model 3.

Musk previously revealed that the first Model 3s would be delivered to those within the company in an effort to iron out any faults or issues before deliveries commence to the wider public. It is not known exactly how many units will initially go to Tesla employees but we know the first 30 examples will be delivered to customers on July 28. A total of 100 customers will then receive their Model 3s in August before production ramps up and deliveries reach 1,500 in September.

Ultimately, Tesla hopes to build 500,000 Model 3s annually.
