Automotive performance enthusiasts tend to see things differently from other people. Every corner – even in hallways and stairwells – has an apex. Ordinary objects look like automotive components. And the release of every new car only begs the question of what it would look like if it were dialed up to eleven.
So after Audi released its all-new A8 flagship sedan, the forecasts started flooding in. Just a couple of days ago, for example, we brought you renderings of what it'd look like as an RS8. That's not likely to happen, but an S8 is. And it'll probably look something like this.
Rendered by our go-to artists at X-Tomi Design is a speculative depiction of the S performance version of the new A8, complete with blacked-out trim, upsized rolling stock, and more aggressive aero.
The upcoming S8 is expected to borrow its powertrain from the Porsche Panamera with which it already shares its underpinnings. That means a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, but not the one it shares with Bentley – the one in the Panamera Turbo and Turbo S E-Hybrid, boasting 550 horsepower in standard guise and 680 with the electric assist.
With that much power – even detuned slightly – the new S8 promises to give the likes of the Mercedes-AMG S63, BMW M760i, Jaguar XJR and Maserati Quattroporte GTS a run for their bulging bags of money. And we're looking forward to seeing how it shapes up – hopefully in another color, though.
