We know that the McLaren 720S is fast. In fact, it is so fast that it can match a Porsche 918 Spyder and Bugatti Veyron in the half mile.
However, can the latest and greatest British supercar even remotely compete with a twin-turbocharged Ford GT? Surely not, right?
To answer that question, Drag Times pitted their 720S against a bright yellow Ford GT in a series of rolling drag races. Both have twin-turbo V8s but whereas the McLaren delivers ‘just’ 710 hp, the Ford has 1,000 hp thanks to the experts at Heffner Performance.
Despite its power deficit, the 720S is significantly lighter and has a quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission, rather than the six-speed manual of the GT. This means the races are far more competitive than you might imagine by simply looking at the power figures.
Place your bets ladies and gentlemen, this is a good one.
