Mercedes Customers Can Now Track Their Car Being Built

Mercedes-Benz customers from Germany are now able to track the build process of their vehicle thanks to the new ‘Joyful Anticipation’ service.

The service is offered through Mercedes Me and only provided to customers when they order a new car. All the customer needs to do is log into their Mercedes Me account and they are granted access to an exclusive website that informs them of where their vehicle is in the production process in real time.

Additionally, customers are shown a slew of multimedia assets of their vehicle as it progresses down the production line.

The German automaker hopes that the service will eventually allow customers to modify their vehicle as it is being built by simply using their smartphone. If, for example, the customer has a change of heart on what color they want, they could simply log on, modify their order and select a new color.

The service is currently only available for CLS, CLS Shooting Brake, E-Class and S-Class models built at the brand’s Sindelfingen plant, the A-Class, B-Class and GLA in Rastatt and the B-Class, CLA and CLA Shooting Brake in Kecskemet. Soon, the Mercedes factory in Bremen, Germany will roll out the service before customers of Mercedes SUV’s built in the United States gain access to the service in late 2017.
