Owners and enthusiasts of Sant'Agata's finest finally had a classic car show to call their own this past weekend in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, where the first Lamborghini & Design Concours d'Elegance was held with the participation of some of the most beautiful classics in the marque's history.
Among those vehicles present were examples of the Miura, Espada, Countach, Diablo, Jarama, Silhouette, 350/400 GT, and LM002. The factory brought some new models like the Aventador, Huracan, even a Veneno Roadster.
The star of the show, however, was undoubtedly the one-of-a-kind Marzal concept, designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, with its dramatic glass gullwing doors. The silver concept was originally unveiled at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show and was driven at the Monaco Grand Prix by Prince Rainer and Princess Grace. The Marzal was sold at Villa d'Este in 2011 from the Bertone museum to a private collector for some $2 million.
This being a proper concours, of course, there was a judged competition, with top honors awarded to a bright green 1971 Miura SV belonging to a Japanese collector. The Marzal was also singled out with a special prize, and a British collector and his red '87 Countach QV were honored for having driven some 1,500 miles to participate in the event.
Participants in the event, organized by Lamborghini Polo Storico, also got to view the early architecture of Le Corbusier and tour the International Museum of Watches in nearby La Chaux-de-Fonds – all of which makes this sound like an event not to have been missed.
