Volkswagen wants to be our "Streetmate" with a new product, but we cannot (yet) tell what this is.
It could be just about anything, from a new smartphone app to a zero-emission vehicle, considering that it adds the 'I.D.' prefix, and this makes it even more interesting.
What's certain is that the German automaker has applied for the 'I.D. Streetmate' trademark, according to VWVortex. Given its name, it could very well be used on a city car, or a subcompact SUV, among others.
Now, until Volkswagen steps in to provide some solid background, all we're left with is the trademark. However, before popping the ultimate question - 'what's an I.D. Streetmate?', we will remind you that production versions of the Hatch Concept, Crozz II, and Buzz are scheduled to hit the assembly lines after 2020.
Moreover, these are believed to be joined by two more members of the I.D. zero-emission family, called the Lounge and AEROe, all of which will be underpinned by the same MEB electric vehicle-dedicated platform.
So, here we are once more, what do you think Volkswagen is plotting by applying for the' I.D. Streetmate' trademark?
