Aston Martin Vanquish Prototype Looks Like A DB11 On Steroids

An Aston Martin Vanquish prototype has been spied undergoing testing near the Nürburgring.

Looking significantly more aggressive than the DB11, the Vanquish features a honeycomb mesh grille which is flanked by unique LED headlights. The car has also been equipped with a front splitter and large air intakes.

Moving further back, we can see a familiar looking hood with camouflaged patches which likely cover larger air vents. Other notable features include new side skirts and a reworked rear end.

Speaking of the latter, the car has slender taillights that presumably span the width of the vehicle. Designers also installed a four-tailpipe exhaust system and an aggressive diffuser.

The DB11's twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine is expected to carryover but it should be upgraded to produce more than 600 hp (447 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. The final figures remain unconfirmed but an output of between 650-700 hp (484-52 kW) is expected.

However, an earlier report claimed Aston Martin will push the Vanquish towards the "realm occupied by the Ferrari 812 Superfast." This would be a substantial jump as the car has a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 789 hp (588 kW). It enables the model to rocket from 0-100 km (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph).
