Lamborghini Factory Is Ready To Welcome The Urus SUV

Lamborghini has provided a glimpse into the production site of the upcoming Urus, some two months before the SUV's official presentation.

As it was announced on more than one occasion, Lamborghini's production site has doubled, from 80,000 to 160,000 square meters, over the course of 18 months, during which the manufacturer operated at full capacity and achieved new record sales last year.

The third Lamborghini model, after the Huracan and Aventador, will also double the company's production, to 7,000 units annually, and it will be put together on a new assembly line. The SUV will be rigorously tested on a new track, built with thirteen different surfaces specific to high-riding vehicles, before being shipped to its first customers from mid-2018.

Lamborghini says that the new assembly line, dubbed 'Industry 4.0', or Manifattura Lamborghini (Manufacturing Lamborghini), integrates some state-of-the-art production technologies meant to aid workers in putting the Urus together. This is characterized by four principles that include craftsmanship, competencies and specialization, production process, and ergonomics and safety.

When it debuts on December 4, the Lamborghini Urus will be the brand's second SUV, after the LM002. It wants to shatter the Nurburgring lap record for this segment, and it plans to do so by reportedly using a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, made by the Volkswagen Group, rated at some 650hp.
