Audi Q8 Is Late To Coupe SUV Party, But It Might Just Steal The Show

For the first time ever, Audi has a challenger to the likes of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. It’s called the Q8, and it’s a very imposing looking machine.

There’s an enormous grille at the front, flared wheel arches, sleek coupe-like profile and large wheels. The amazing interior quality adds up to the hype, with gorgeous materials used throughout and two generous high-definition touchscreens, joined by a digital instrument cluster.

Despite the sloping roofline, the headroom at the back is very decent, noted AutoTrader in their review, adding that legroom is sufficient and even the boot space is impressive for a vehicle in this class, at 605 liters (21.36 cu-ft) with the rear seats up.

On the go, the 2019 Audi Q8 is very good. It gets standard air suspension that modifies its behavior and ride height according to the selected driving mode. The ride is a bit on the firm side, even in ‘Comfort’ mode, so most drivers will probably forget that there’s a ‘Sport’ mode as well.

The only engine on offering at the time is a 3.0-liter diesel, rated at 286 PS (281 hp / 210 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. It rockets the posh SUV to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.3 seconds and up to 245 km/h (152 mph).

The reviewer says the unit sounds good and offers “effortless acceleration”. Also, the eight-speed automatic transmission that comes with it is both smooth and fast.

So, the Audi Q8 sounds like it should give the X6 and GLE Coupe something to think about. For the whole review, as well as the verdict, you can watch the video right after the jump.
