VW Adds New Petrol Engines To Passat And Tiguan In The UK

Volkswagen UK has enriched the Passat family by adding a number of new gasoline engines to their range.

Priced from £21,610 ($27,929) and available as options across the range, including the R-Line, they include the 125PS (123hp) and 150PS (148hp) versions of the 1.4-liter TSI. Both are mated to a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, or an optional 7-speed dual-clutch auto. The 150 PS version is also equipped with the Active Cylinder Technology, a system that shuts down two cylinders at different times to improve fuel consumption.

A 1.8-liter TSI with 180PS (177hp) is also part of the offerings, as is a 2.0-liter TSI rated at 220PS (217hp). The first is offered with a 6-speed stick shift or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, while the second one is fitted as standard to a 6-speed DSG. These units can be ordered on the GT and R-Line grades, and cost as much as £34,255 ($44,271) for the most powerful model.

Volkswagen has also added the 1.4-liter TSI with 125PS (123hp) to the Tiguan as well, in the SE and SE Nav grades, as well as the 150PS (148hp) version in the SEL and R-Line specs.
