The first commercial for the all-new Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus has just been released, appropriately showing the high-performance droptop on some stunning European mountain roads.
Like the car in the initial press pictures, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus in the advertisement is bright green and looks right at home surrounded by trees, cliffs and glorious roads that zig-zag their way through the mountains.
Although convertibles are often viewed as the tamer siblings of their hardtop counterparts, Audi is still marketing the model as a true driver's car; and rightfully so, it has all the ingredients needed for a high-performance vehicle.
Like the Coupe, the Spyder is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine with 601 hp and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque on tap. All of that power is sent to the tarmac via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive system. This allows the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in a brisk 3.3 seconds and a 328 km/h (204 mph) top speed.
