EVO have welcomed Steve Sutcliffe into their family by sending him to Spain to test the new McLaren 570S Spider.
Praised for its marvelous engineering in previous reviews, which makes it feel identical to its fixed roof sibling with the roof up, the latest addition to the Sports Series family impressed Mr. Sutcliffe, too, who couldn’t find enough tunnels to quench his thirst for the V8 symphony.
Speaking of which, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 pushes 570PS (562hp) and 600Nm (444lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels, through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The output is identical to that of the 570S Coupe, and so is the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time, of 3.2 seconds, as well as the 328km/h (204mph) top speed, with the roof up.
The 570S Spider isn’t just fast on a straight, but in corners too. It offers plenty of grip, even for some of the most enthusiastic drivers, and its hydraulic steering, which was favored over the electric power steering, offers plenty of information.
