While Ford has everyone excited with the return of the Bronco, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will remind everyone of the 2004 concept in his upcoming movie Rampage.
The popular actor recently posted a photo from a scene of the movie on his social media that featured the 2004 Ford Bronco concept.
However Ford was quick to point out that the concept’s cameo in Rampage should not be taken as a tease of the new production Bronco model, which is due in 2020, according to AutoNews.
"The Ford Bronco seen in Dwayne Johnson's upcoming movie, 'Rampage,' is the 2004 Bronco concept," a spokeswoman said. "It does not represent the future Bronco beyond sharing the iconic Bronco name."
The Rock is also acting as a spokesman for Ford’s service centers and has also joined the debut event of the 2018 Mustang, so it’s not that strange for him to be surrounded by the company’s products in movies and in real life.
As for the movie, Rampage is based on the famous 1980s arcade name of the same name and will be directed by Brad Peyton. Johnson will play a primatologist named Davis Okoye, who shares an unshakeable bond with George, a silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. A rogue genetic experiment however will turn George and other animals into raging creatures of enormous size.
The movie is set to hit theaters in April 20, 2018.
