Mercedes Wants To Sell You Lewis Hamilton's Race-Winning W04 F1 Car

The list of people who drove the Mercedes W04 is pretty short. It includes Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, and maybe a test driver or two. And you could be next.

A couple of years ago, Mercedes launched the All Time Stars program, by which it sells select historic automobiles from its corporate collection at its museum in Stuttgart. And the W04 is the latest item on offer.

This is the very same F1 car that Hamilton drove to victory at the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix, scoring four more podium finishes to complete the season in fourth place behind Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

Introduced before the current six-cylinder turbo formula took hold, it packs a 2.4-liter V8 – naturally aspirated to between 750 and 830 horsepower as it screams to 18,000 rpm. No word on whether the hybrid Kinetic Energy Recovery System is included – nor has the asking price been publicized, but you can bet that the rare opportunity to acquire a front-running, race-winning grand prix racer will command a suitably high price.

Though this is the first F1 car we've seen come up for offer in the All Time Stars showroom, Mercedes-Benz Classic has sold other racing cars from its collection – including an 1998 FIA GT-spec CLK LM and am AMG C-Class from the 1996 season of the International Touring Car Championship. If tin-top racers are more your thing, Benz is also offering a 2004 C-Class DTM test car, complete with 4.0-liter V8 engine rated at 470 hp and appearing, alongside the aforementioned W04, at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed over this past weekend.
