Mercedes-Maybach 6 Convertible Concept Reportedly Heading To Pebble Beach

Mercedes-Benz Chief Design Officer Gordern Wagener teased an upcoming study on social media earlier this week, without giving any details about it.

However, Autocar believes that this is the convertible version of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept, a beautifully shaped show car that shined under the sun at last year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

It uses four permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, each one driving a wheel, and an 80kWh battery pack, which leads to a total system output of around 750 horses. Naught to 62mph (100km/h) takes less than 4 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 155mph (250km/h). Its zero-emission driving range is impressive as well, as it stands at more than 310 miles (500km).

By looking at these numbers, we know what to expect from the possible Mercedes-Maybach 6 Convertible Concept, bar the chopped roof and likely a small weight penalty.

If everything goes as planned, then the production versions of these two studies should be put together by a new bespoke coach building operation, which will allow the company's customers to fully customize their high-end vehicles.

Mercedes should shed more light on the case before August 17, when the new study will debut at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
