New Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Impresses In Latest Review

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is one of the most extreme vehicles ever created and MotorWeek recently got its hands on the highly anticipated muscle car.

Despite having a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 840 hp (626 kW) and 770 lb-ft (1,042 Nm) of torque, John Davis says the "Demon is not that insane" on the drag strip as the car's drag mode makes launching "super simple." He goes on to say the model launches extremely hard but, if you do it right, everything hooks up and the car takes off without any drama.

While the Demon was created to rule the quarter mile, it's still a "very streetable car." In fact, Davis notes the model actually rides better than the Challenger SRT Hellcat thanks to its flexible sidewall tires.

In terms of performance, the Challenger SRT Demon can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds and run the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds. MotorWeek wasn't able to hit those numbers but they believe this was due to a combination of high temperatures and humidity during testing.

Davis effectively sums up the review by saying "Don't think of this as some one-off car just to do a couple of runs and get some crazy numbers for publicity." That's extremely good news for the 3,000 U.S. customers who can't wait to take delivery of the car.
