BMW X2 Review: Is This The Mini X6 We Were Hoping For?

BMW, BMW Videos, BMW X2, New Cars, Reviews, Video
Just like its two main rivals, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, BMW has several crossovers and SUVs, in different shapes and sizes, in its lineup.

The latest one is the X2, and it doesn’t so much fill the gap between the X1 and X3 but is rather a sportier, more-driver focused (and less practical) version of the former.

With its shorter front and rear overhangs and lowered roofline, it does look sporty indeed, and its appearance is enhanced furthermore by the and larger wheels and colorful finishes available.

The interior is a nice place to sit in and typical for a BMW, according to AutoExpress, who traveled to Lisbon, Portugal, to test the new X2 during the international media launch event. The rear headroom and legroom are quite good and boot space is satisfactory, even if it’s slightly less than what you’d get in the X1.

Moreover, thanks to its stiffened up chassis and other work carried beneath the skin, the BMW X2 offers plenty of grip on the road, especially with the xDrive all-wheel drive system, although soundproofing isn’t that great.

Pricing for the X2 starts at £33,980 ($47,953) for the entry-level SE in the United Kingdom , and goes all the way up to £38,330 ($54,091) for the M Sport X. All four versions currently on sale in Britain are powered by the same 2.0-liter diesel unit, but the automaker will eventually launch a smaller diesel and several three- and four-cylinder petrol units.

The BMW X2 will arrive in the United States this spring. Pricing starts from $39,395 for the xDrive28i model, which uses a 2.0-liter petrol engine and, as its designation suggests, comes with all-wheel drive, but buyers will get to order a front-wheel drive version as well in the near future.
