Audi TT Quantum Gray Edition Bows As Brand’s First Car Sold Exclusively Online

The death of the Audi TT as we know it is no longer a rumor, as the company’s chairman, Bram Schot, confirmed it last week.

Still, that won’t happen overnight, so TT fans will have plenty of chances to secure their small Audi coupe or roadster before production comes to a end. The newly-announced Quantum Gray Edition seems like a good opportunity and will also ensure the owner some exclusivity, as only 99 examples will be made.

In addition, the process of buying one will be easier than ever as it is Audi’s first car that’s sold exclusively online, starting from June 5.

The limited-run TT will be sold exclusively in Germany and other countries from the European Economic Area. The pilot project for online direct sales is supported by Audi dealerships and allows customers to inquire digitally and without obligation about leasing or financing before making the decision to purchase a vehicle. If they decide to buy, they can have the car delivered at the time and place of their choosing within Germany.

They can also opt to have the vehicle registered beforehand with their desired license plate. The project also involves Audi Live Consultation, a service that connects the buyer with a consultant who uses augmented reality goggles to transmit live images to the customer from inside the vehicle.

The TT Quantum Gray Edition is based on the 45 TFSI quattro S tronic. This means it packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 245 PS (242 hp) and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel-drive. In this configuration, the fixed-roof TT covers the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in a healthy 5.2 seconds and tops out at 250 km/h (155 mph).

Pricing stands at €62,305.03 (approximately $69,750) in Germany , and the car comes with exclusive equipment including the Express Red interior design package and partial matting of the “TT” clear coat on the exterior.

Audi aims to make e-commerce a reality for all of its models from April 2020.
