2018 Ford Mustang GT Caught During Photo Shoot, Reveals 7,500 RPM Redline

Ford unveiled the 2018 Mustang earlier this year, but we're starting to learn more about the model as a handful of pre-production prototypes were caught in Austin, Texas during a photo shoot.

Taken by a Mustang6G user, the pictures reveals the Mustang GT's redline will climb from 7,000 rpm to around 7,500 rpm.

Ford has been coy on specifications, but the company has already confirmed the car's 5.0-liter V8 engine "has been thoroughly reworked" and equipped with dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection as well as low-pressure port fuel injection.

The company isn't ready to talk performance figures, though it recently confirmed the 5.0-liter V8 engine on the F-150 will produce an additional 10 hp (7 kW) and 13 lb-ft (17 Nm) of torque thanks to "advanced dual port and direct-injection technology."

Whether or not the F-150 gives us any indication of what to expect remains unknown, but Ford has already revealed the 2018 Mustang GT will have more power than its predecessor, which puts out 435 hp (324 kW) and 400 lb-ft (541 Nm) of torque when running on premium fuel.

The 2018 Ford Mustang will go on sale this fall and it will feature a host of other changes including a new front fascia, a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster.
