Crowned as the best selling sports car in several European countries last year, the Ford Mustang has received some much-desired updates, for the 2018MY.
Visual revisions are almost on par with its North American sibling, which was facelifted back in January, to which it adds an extra 40PS (39hp) developed by the 5.0-liter V8 engine that now makes 450PS (444hp).
The 2.3-liter EcoBoost unit remains the entry-level version, but in order to improve its emissions, the brand's engineers have downgraded it, from 317PS (313hp) and 290PS (286hp). Performance remains on the same level as before, despite having less muscle at its disposal, or so Ford says, adding that the 6-speed manual gearbox was upgraded, and the new 10-speed auto is available on both models.
Additional drive modes - Drag Strip and My Mode, should interest future buyers, along with the 'Good Neighbor' feature that limits sonorous exhaust, making it suitable for driving in residential areas, and the MagneRide Damping System, which can be added to the car from the options list.
Ford should open the order books of the 2018 Mustang in Europe soon, but until they do, the muscle car shines under the spotlight at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
