Is The Mercedes-Benz SLC More Than Just A Pretty Face?

Almost two years ago, Mercedes-Benz updated the SLK, giving it fresh exterior and interior touches, a modified folding metal roof, new engines, and a new name - SLC.

That's a lot of 'new' for a car that's 6 years old beneath its pretty sheet metal, so given that during this time Porsche released a new Boxster, and Mazda has a very posh MX-5 that's cheaper, could the SLC still count as a good investment?

Before letting CarWow answer this question in the review that follows, let's focus on some of its strong points: good looks, classy interior, especially when fitted with options, a folding hardtop that basically turns it into a coupe when it's up, AirScarf system to enjoy it as a roadster in cold weather, and a decent size boot for a car in its class, especially with the roof up.

However, despite following the classic sports car recipe, which is engine at the front and rear-wheel drive, the 'new' Mercedes-Benz SLC isn’t as sporty to drive as, let's say a FWD Audi TT. Of course, you can check the options list again for the Dynamic Handling Package, which makes things a bit sportier, but it probably won't satisfy the petrol head in you, in the long run.

So, given these aspects, could the Mercedes-Benz SLC lure you away from its direct and indirect rivals? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
