Shelby Raptor Baja Hits The Sand Dunes For Some Off-Road Action

Shelby American has released a new promotional video for its Baja Raptor.

Billed as an "extreme off-roader," the model is based on the Ford F-150 Raptor and the clip shows it doesn't have any trouble flying off sand dunes and making hard landings. Despite this, the company says people should "Baja responsibly" and not attempt to recreate any of the stunts in the film. This is probably a good idea as the previous-generation truck was known to have issues with bent frames.

Regardless of the off-road antics, the Baja Raptor is built for action as it features a 3-inch lift kit and 18-inch alloy wheels with 35-inch BFGoodrich KM2 off-road tires. The model also has an upgraded 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine which has been outfitted with a cold air intake, a high-flow air filter, and a custom engine tune. These modifications enable the mill to produce more than 525 hp (391 kW) and 610 lb-ft (826 Nm) of torque.

Besides the performance changes, the Baja Raptor has a unique exterior with off-road bumpers, a ram air hood, and auxiliary LED lights. Other highlights include custom leather seats, carbon fiber trim, and an individually numbered plaque on the dashboard.

Only 500 units will be made for the 2018 model year and pricing starts at $117,460.
